The Max Scherzer Cornerstone Program gives you a free 99 overall Nationals starter at 50 points. Finish five moments, tally seven strikeouts with any pitchers and earn 3,557 Parallel XP with any players. You can complete both missions offline without buying a card or locking anything into a collection.
Quick answer: Five moments pay six points each for 30 points. The strikeout and Parallel XP missions add ten points each, bringing the full program to exactly 50. All seven tasks are required.
San Diego Studio added the program in the October 23 content release. Find it under Assorted Programs, then Player Programs, in Diamond Dynasty. The reward is the 99 Cornerstone Max Scherzer, a right-handed starting pitcher representing Washington.
The exact 50-point Scherzer route
The Max Scherzer program has five moments and two missions. There is no spare point allowance, optional collection or exchange in the listed path.
| Task | Points |
|---|---|
| 2013 AL Cy Young Award Winner moment | 6 |
| Scherzer Ties Single-Game Strikeout Record moment | 6 |
| 2016 & 2017 NL Cy Young Award Winner moment | 6 |
| Nationals World Series Champion moment | 6 |
| Nationals Cornerstone moment | 6 |
| Tally seven strikeouts with any pitchers | 10 |
| Earn 3,557 Parallel XP with any players | 10 |
| Total | 50 |
Completing every moment gets you to 30 points. Add either mission to reach 40, then finish the other for Scherzer at 50. Skipping one moment leaves a maximum of 44 points; skipping either mission leaves 40. You need the full set.
The seven strikeouts do not need to come from Scherzer. The mission accepts any pitchers, and the Parallel XP mission accepts any players. You can keep using your existing squad instead of building a Nationals team or buying a Cornerstone card to start.
Parallel XP, usually shortened to PXP, is the player progress counted by the 3,557-PXP mission. That number is separate from the program's 50 points and the regular XP awarded along its reward path. Earning 3,557 regular XP does not finish the PXP mission.
Which modes count for the missions?
Both missions list Play vs CPU, Mini Seasons, Conquest and Diamond Quest. Those are your offline options. The online list is 1 vs 1 Ranked, Ranked Co-op, Battle Royale, Events and Weekend Classic.
Use one of those modes while working on the two totals. A pitching appearance that earns strikeouts and PXP can contribute toward both objectives, while your hitters can help with the any-player PXP total. Neither mission asks for a specific team, series or version of Scherzer.
Start with the moments if you want the 30-point block first, then return to a mode you already plan to play. Keep checking both mission counters: seven strikeouts alone awards ten program points, rather than replacing the 3,557-PXP requirement. The program does not offer a moments-only route to the final card.
Every reward on the path
Scherzer is the final card reward. Before him, the path provides six The Show Packs and 500 Stubs. Four separate 5,000-XP rewards add up to 20,000 regular XP.
| Program points | Rewards |
|---|---|
| 10 | One The Show Pack and 5,000 XP |
| 20 | 500 Stubs |
| 30 | Two The Show Packs and 5,000 XP |
| 40 | Three The Show Packs and 5,000 XP |
| 50 | 99 Cornerstone Max Scherzer and 5,000 XP |
Those packs are additional rewards on the way to Scherzer. His card comes directly from reaching 50 points, so you do not need to pull him from any of the six packs.
What does the 99 Cornerstone card offer?
Scherzer has 118 stamina, 113 pitching clutch, 116 H/9 and 116 K/9, alongside 99 control and 99 break. This is the 2017 Cornerstone version, and the reward is No Sell. You cannot sell this card to turn the program into a market payout.

After unlocking him, you can use a Cornerstone card toward the separate 9th Inning XP Path mission for 500 Cornerstone PXP and 5,500 XP. That is a follow-on objective for the Inning path. It does not add points to Scherzer's program or remove any of its seven tasks.
