SDS says the Companion App no longer supports Android Developer mode. Turn off Developer options; its guidance does not require reinstalling.

San Diego Studio says Android Developer mode is no longer supported by the MLB The Show Companion App. Its guidance for players using that setting is to turn it off, with no need to reinstall the app.

The instruction appears in the official Companion App v7.0.5 release thread. Google Play lists an October 9 update with improved Marketplace integrity.

Quick answer: If Developer options is enabled on your Android phone, switch it off in Settings. SDS says reinstalling the Companion App is unnecessary for this change.

What SDS tells Android users to change

In its October 9 reply, SDS staff member Manu__SDS_MLBTS tells players to disable Android Developer mode and says the app no longer supports that setting.

The instruction is about the phone's Developer options setting. That is the setting SDS identifies in its reply.

How to turn off Developer options

  1. Open your Android phone's Settings.
  2. Find Developer options. Its location and name can vary by device.
  3. Turn off the main switch at the top of that screen.
  4. Open the Companion App again.

Use the main Developer options switch. SDS asks for Developer mode to be off, rather than naming one individual debugging option to disable.

Developer options is a phone setting used for debugging and other system tools. Turning off its main switch disables most of those options. If you use your phone for Android development, that setting change affects more than the Companion App.

Which app does this apply to?

The MLB The Show Companion App connects to the console game. It lets you search cards, create Community Market orders, manage a watchlist and follow order notifications. It also carries game news and roster updates.

The official FAQ lists Android 11 or iOS 12 as the minimum operating system and supports MLB The Show editions 21 through 26. SDS's Developer mode instruction specifically addresses Android.

You can check for the update on the official Google Play listing.

If Developer mode is already off

If the setting is already disabled, this instruction does not give you another toggle to change. For a continuing access problem, contact MLB The Show Support with your device, operating system, app version and the message you see.

SDS's reply provides a setting requirement. It does not promise that changing it resolves every login, freezing or Community Market problem.
